Homemade Non-Toxic Natural Baby Wipes

November 23, 2014momstownBabyNo comments
The idea of homemade non-toxic baby wipes fall into the category of : “things that I would do differently, if I knew then, what I know now”. Here is an easy recipe to follow to make your own.

So for me, the idea of homemade non-toxic baby wipes fall into the category of : “things that I would do differently, if I knew then, what I know now”…Unfortunately there is no time machine in sight and certainly, there is no sense in dwelling on something I can’t change. So, I have decided to team up with the wonderful and brilliant Dr Erica Robinson, for a series of Mommy DIY sessions, where we will be demonstrating many “how to’s”, including this first session, about how to make your very own non-toxic baby wipes, using inexpensive and simple ingredients! It was such a pleasure to meet up with so many new Mamas at this months momstown Milton Baby Basics program. I was impressed with how simple these wipes were to make, and how wonderful they were to use. After cleaning my hands with one of the wipes, I was left with a clean and wonderfully moisturized feeling, thanks to the coconut oil that is included in the recipe. Here is are the details on how to make your own, courtesy or Dr. Robinson!

  1. Cut a Bounty paper towel roll in half. Don’t cheap out on this step or your wipes will fall apart!
  2. Combine 2 cups water with 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon Dr Bronners castille soap (both ingredients are available at the Milton Health Food Store at Main St & Martin Street downtown Milton)
  3. Place the half roll of paper towel in a tupperware style or tall cylindrical container. You can use a large ziploc bag in a pinch.
  4. Now would be the perfect time to add about 5 drops of  your favorite essential oil. I would add a bit of lavender, eucalyptus or tea tree oil. This step is completely optional!
  5. Slowly pour the water solution over the paper towel roll
  6. Let sit 5 minutes
  7. Remove inner cardboard roll, it will easier pull out now.

That’s it! Enjoy these homemade wipes in your home, in the car and on the go.
